Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery Mysore – Jaganmohan Palace History & Complete Tour
Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery, formerly the Jaganmohan Palace, is among Mysore’s oldest royal mansions. Built as an alternative residence for the Wadiyar family, it became the primary palace during the reconstruction of Mysore Palace (1897–1912). It hosted major events including the 1902 coronation, Mysore University convocations, and early Representative Council sessions. The palace was transformed into an art gallery in 1915 and today features paintings, sculptures, Mysore artwork, and a cultural auditorium. This post covers its history, art treasures, architecture, and my full tour experience.
